Rendezvous is pleased to showcase our friend and professional photographer Glen McClure. Virginia native Glen McClure
developed a passion for photography when he got his first camera at age
19. Largely self-taught, McClure has
worked as an advertising photographer in the old port city of Norfolk for three
decades, while extensively exhibiting his own work. His most recent work
includes portraits made in Umbria, Italy’s “green
heart.” McClure is also known for his landscape photography, primarily of Ireland, Italy,
and Virginia, and black-and-white portraits of
people encountered “on the street” throughout Virginia.
McClure’s recognition of
the visual beauty present in the mundane is a powerful part of his art and one
he shares with Czechoslovakian artist Josef Sudek, whose work he admires.
Glen McClure’s work is held
in many collections, including The Polaroid Collection, The Chrysler Museum and
The Art Museum of Western Virginia.
