GARLIC IS AS GOOD AS TEN MOTHERS (Les Blank, 1980) Introduced by Steve Johnson (Rendezvous). Garlic takes us to visit the Gilroy Garlic Festival, the early Chez Panisse with Alice Waters, some flower children of the early 1970s, and a fiery gypsyóall celebrants of garlic. It is a wild and savory paean of praise to the Stinking Rose that, in 2004, was elevated to the National Film Registry (a rare honor for a documentary). For more information, see the film’s own description and IMDB.
